چکیده

In this paper, we indicate the theoretical possibility of using the decay of polarized muons at rest as a source of the transversely polarized electron antineutrino beam. Such a beam can be used to probe new effects beyond standard model. We mean here new tests concerning CP violation, Lorentz structure and chirality structure of the charged current weak interactions. The main goal is to show how the energy and angular distribution of the electron antineutrinos in the muon rest frame depends on the transverse components of the antineutrino beam polarization. We admit the participation of the complex exotic scalar and tensor couplings of the right-chirality electron antineutrinos in addition to the standard vector coupling of the left-chirality ones, while the muon neutrinos are always left-chirality. It means that the outgoing electron antineutrino beam is a mixture of the leftand right-chirality antineutrinos and has the fixed direction of the transverse spin polarization with respect to the production plane. Our analysis is model-independent and consistent with the current upper limits on the non-standard couplings. The results are presented in a limit of infinitesimally small mass for all particles produced in the decay.

Muon Polarization in a Front-End Channel of a Neutrino Factory

As one of the figures of merit, muon polarization and its correlation to the particle arrival time was studied for the high intensity muon beam source of a Neutrino Factory. Muon polarization, 100% polarized in the parent pion rest system, was tracked down the pion capture, phase rotation, and ionization cooling channels, using the BMT equation. A study was done of the dependence of the muon po...

The liquid scintillator neutrino detector and LAMPF neutrino source

A search for neutrino oscillations of the type F& + V, has been conducted at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility using F, from muon decay at rest. Evidence for this transition has been reported previously. This paper discusses in detail the experimental setup, detector operation and neutrino source, including aspects relevant to oscillation searches in the muon decay-at-rest and pion decay in...

پراکندگی نوترینوی میونی از روی الکترون قطبیده به الکترون و نوترینو در فضا- زمان ناجابه‌جایی

For neutrino scattering from polarized electron, the weak interaction term in the cross section is significantly suppressed by the polarized term. The magnetic moment term does not receive any correction from the electron polarization. Hence, the study of the magnetic moment of neutrinos through scattering from the polarized electron leads to a stronger bound on the neutrino magnetic moment com...

Feynman Path Amplitude Calculation of Neutrino and Muon Oscillations

Predictions are presented for the oscillation phase in neutrino oscillations following pion decay at rest and in flight, muon decay and nuclear β−decay at rest as well as for muon oscillations following pion decay at rest and in flight. The neutrino oscillation phases found disagree with the conventionally used value: φ 12 = ∆m 2 L/(2P). The same oscillation phase is found for neu-trino and muo...

The Description of Neutrino and Muon Oscillations by Interfering Amplitudes of Classical Space-Time Paths

Particle oscillations following neutrino production processes are analysed within Feynman’s path amplitude formulation of quantum mechanics. Consideration of the temporal sequence of production and detection events reveals an important contribution to the oscillation phase from the space-time propagator of the decaying source particle. Formulae are derived for spatial neutrino oscillations foll...
